In just a couple of weeks, winners for the 2018 Greater Rochester Quality Council (GRQC) Performance Excellence Awards will be revealed. Rochester Regional Health is pulling for two important finalists:
- Newark-Wayne Community Hospital: Patient Experience (Customer Excellence Category)
- Rochester General, Unity , Long Term Care Facilities: Decreasing Length of Stay (LOS) by Optimizing our Choicing to LTC Process (Operations Excellence Category)
This year, both RRH project applications made it to the final round. These projects are examples of collaboration between leadership, highly engaged subject matter experts and process improvement black belt professionals who utilized Best Practice, Change Management, Lean Six-Sigma, Project Management, and Industry Benchmarking.
The awards process began with a self-nominating application in one of three categories: Operations Excellence, Customer Excellence, and Team Excellence. Criteria and scoring is fashioned after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards.
A team of judges visited each award finalist to observe the use of Lean Six Sigma thinking and tools, hear from leadership and people involved in the continuous improvement process, and see the results first hand.
Winners will be announced at the annual showcase and awards program on Wednesday, May 9 at Locust Hill Country Club.
