EXTRA BEAT: Thanking Our Nurses

This week, we celebrate and honor more than 3,600 nurses across Rochester Regional Health. As a physician, I can attest to the defining role that nurses play in the doctor’s office, at the bedside and in our community.  Earlier in my career as an Obstetrician, I worked with patients on their journey to parenthood. For some patients, the road is a long, emotional and unpredictable one. It is the nurse who, with a kind gesture or compassionate word, can make all the difference to a patient in the office hoping for good news. It is the nurse steadfastly at the bedside through hours of labor helping deliver a new life into the world. These nurses truly taught me how to best care for patients and their families – the essence of compassion, empathy and true caring.

Since joining Rochester Regional Health in 2014, I have looked to our nursing workforce to set the tone to help lead the transformation of care delivery across our region. From implementing evidenced-based best practices at the bedside to expanding nursing professional practice programs to delivering exceptional patient experiences for every patient, every time.

I am incredibly proud of the work you do, the care you deliver and the compassion you demonstrate to our patients, the community and to one another.

On behalf of the entire Rochester Regional Health team, thank you to all of our nurses today and every day.
