WERNER VOICE: Patient and Visitor Violence

Rochester General Hospital Edition
August 2017

Violence in healthcare facilities is relatively rare, but it’s documented in all care environments. Patient/Visitor-on-Worker, or “Type II” workplace violence, negatively impacts staff satisfaction and retention as well as causing physical and psychological harm. Training initiatives can help prevent violence against healthcare workers and reduce consequences when it does occur.
