Safe Care Starts With You
Together, as a health system, we have witnessed remarkable growth throughout our clinical and non-clinical arenas. Now, it’s time to capitalize on advancements we have made with CareConnect, our electronic medical record (EMR).
The tremendous work we are doing to further adopt and optimize CareConnect, which in turn improves the delivery of safe patient care, will allow us to attain a rare designation from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). HIMSS, a globally recognized organization, developed an eight-stage scoreboard (0-7) to evaluate hospitals on the adoption and utilization of their EMR functions. Each stage moves Rochester Regional closer to achieving a near paperless patient care environment—critical steps in helping eliminate patient harm.
Special congratulations go to Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic for recently receiving HIMSS Stage 6 validation. Along with our other hospitals (RGH, UH, NWH and UMMC), they join a group of only 30% of hospitals nationwide to achieve that level of distinction.
However, we are not stopping there. New processes and a considerable amount of work are underway as we advance to HIMSS Stage 7, the final level and the industry’s highest standard.
Why Stage 7 matters to you and our patients?
- Demonstrates our commitment to increasing the quality of the care we deliver and diminishing patient safety risks through successful utilization of CareConnect
- Enables implementation of new clinical logistics and platforms, and advanced tracking capabilities (i.e. blood and breast milk scanning)
- Signifies cultural adoption of innovation in the use of technology
- Promotes evidenced-based screening tools and standardized interventions
- Improves workflows
Rochester Regional will nearly double the number of Stage 7 hospitals in New York when we achieve the prestigious status. This is an exciting time for our health system. We will continue to update you on our progress and we thank you for your support!
